Electrical Engineering · Puzzle #1
Ohm's Law
What is Ohm's Law?
V = IR — voltage across an ohmic conductor is proportional to the current through it. The constant of proportionality, resistance, is a property of the material and geometry rather than the applied voltage, which is exactly what makes the relationship linear.
The five clues
Engineerdle #1 described Ohm's Law with five clues, revealed one at a time from hardest to most direct. Each clue points at a different property of the concept.
- 01Three variables, one triangle every student draws.
- 02It only holds for a certain class of materials and components.
- 03Rearranged, it gives you the value of the resistor you need.
- 04V, I and R.
- 05Named after a German physicist whose surname became a unit.
