Machine Learning · Puzzle #10
Neural Network
What is Neural Network?
A computing model built from layers of simple, interconnected units — loosely inspired by biological neurons — where every connection carries an adjustable weight that training tunes to fit data. Stack enough of these layers together and the model earns the label 'deep', giving deep learning its name.
The five clues
Engineerdle #10 described Neural Network with five clues, revealed one at a time from hardest to most direct. Each clue points at a different property of the concept.
- 01A computing model loosely inspired by biology, though the inspiration is now mostly historical.
- 02It's built from layers of simple units, each doing very little on its own.
- 03Every connection between units carries an adjustable weight.
- 04Stack enough layers and the model is described as 'deep'.
- 05A model of interconnected layers of weighted nodes, trained by adjusting those weights to fit data.
A new engineering concept every day: five clues, five guesses. How early can you name it?
